I drive from my hospital up north down to pick up Chris at his hospital downtown. This part of the trip takes approximately a half hour. (USUALLY)
On this morning it took me an hour and a half.
We knew this weather was coming, so why weren’t the roads treated as such?
The entire trip which is usually an hour and a half ended up taking us three hours.
Why?

the temperatures have been like what you see above.
My other issue with the weather is the fact they are closing school. Why? Because the temperatures are so cold? I mean do the schools have heat or not? Do Eskimo children get days off school when the temperatures drop to -10 degrees? I think not. Can’t parents dress their children accordingly? Don’t get me wrong, I love that my little guy will be home with me, but it just means he’ll have to make the day up later in the year.
When the weather is nice.

Those are legitimate gripes in my book!
Lovely photos!
And yes, I’d much rather them in school when cold and home in the nice weather!
We just got the call that school is canceled today. Ugh. It was only a half day anyways.
I agree with you! When it snows here…which, is like, never…people go absolutely crazy!
My stepson was crying about having a late in when all the others schools canceled and I said would you rather have the day off now or in June. He changed his tone. He is currently sleeping in teen bliss since they canceled school today.
I think more schools are worried about being sued which is why they cancel it.
Some of the school were canceled around here, too. I had the same thought – Inuit children go to school in these temperatures (not to mention the fact that North of the arctic circle the sun doesn’t rise at all in the Winter so they have to go to school in the cold AND the dark!).
But, yeah, BRRRRR!
We had about 5-5 inches the other day and the temps today are -13 degrees AND that doesn’t even include the wind chill factor. Uh yeah, TOO COLD for me!! I am ready for a beach and some warm weather. Do you live in a log cabin? I was trying to tell from the pics…
that drive – argh – suckage!
my kids have now been home for TWO days! I had to beg for the computer this morning!
Most of the schools in middle TN are closed because of the cold. And we have NO snow. I think it’s funny, but whatever. I’ve never heard of no school because it’s cold.
Wow! Kimber, I wonder if we have met somewhere and just don’t know it!
I just posted the same thing not too long ago. I am from WY, but we live in NM and if the wind blows too hard we are out of school! I am like you have got to be kidding me!
I do however, love the first image you got! Very pretty
I would fly somewhere warm immediately. I’d call someone to airlift me out to the Bahamas. Brr!
I think we all need to go on a vacation! The pictures are lovely, but snow – eh, get’s a little old and cold after awhile.
We got hit with snow on Wednesday and a 15 minute drive to pick my son up from kindergarten took an hour. I had to call the school and tell them I was sitting on the interstate not moving and they would have to have him sit in the office. The accidents are crazy around here when just a little snow falls.
Brrrr! I can’t even imagine what -4 feels like! Looks pretty though!
Sorry it took so long for you to get home, but your pictures are really pretty! I totally agree about canceling school when it’s too cold….load of crappola!
Oh, BTW, I’m a nurse and I wanted you to know that I really appreciate our RTs. RTs are da bomb!
those pictures are so awsome , but it looks so cold.
Brrr!
I hate it when snow makes travel impossible. I swear they never canceled school when I was little!
Stay warm.
I came on here to Thank You for being a “follower” of Jody Cooper Photography, and the first thing I said when your blog popped up, was ohhhh I love her header! Very Nice!
I know the roads are a pain–but it sure is gorgeous!!!
Blessings!
Great pics
..yup..i ‘ve a pet peeve with closing the schools for cold weather too..and I used the Eskimo line..my son’s reply..
“well they have Eskimo clothes and we just have uniforms..and we have to go to the portables..”..
hmmm
The pictures are really pretty
It is a pain when the roads clog up though.
Most people do not know how to drive in the snow
